Background Information

The Confucius Institute at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS) was launched on May 7, 2005 as the first Confucius Institute in Central Asia. It is also one of the earliest Confucius Institutes. It was awarded the "Pioneer of Confucius Institutes" as well as "Top 20 Confucius Institutes" (twice). The Uzbek and Chinese Directors of the Confucius Institute have both won “Individual Performance Excellence Award” in 2008 and 2009.

Infrastructure

The Confucius Institute of Tashkent is the first Confucius Institute in central Asia, and is also the earliest Confucius Institute founded overseas. It is located in the downtown area with convenient transportation and beautiful environment. In June 2016, the institute was moved from National Oriental College in Tashkent to the current new address, thus, its teaching environment was improved. Currently, it boasts 1 multimedia pronunciation classroom, 7 classrooms, 2 administrative offices, 1 books and reference materials room, 1 conference room also served as activity center. The library now has more than 7,000 books about Chinese history, politic, economy, culture and tourism, around 300 Chinese teaching text books, and a series of video materials. In addition, the library is equipped with modern video devices to support culture dissemination activities, Chinese contest and seminar.

Students Cultivation

The Confucius Institute of Tashkent has been a prestigous school in the field of Chinese teaching in Tashkent since the inauguration in 2005.

Awards

——“Global Top 20 Confucius Institute” (2007, 2008)

——沙夫卡特·哈姆拉库洛夫 (Uzbekistan director of the Confucius Institute of Tashkent) and Wang Fang (Chinese director of the Confucius Institute of Tashkent) are awared “Advanced Individual Award of Global Confucius Institutes” respectively in 2007 and 2008.

——“The Pioneer of Confucius Institute” conferred by Confucius Institute Headquaters in December, 2014

——玛楠诺夫(Director of the foreign Confucius Institute) obtained the honour of “Advanced Individual Award of Global Confucius Institutes” in December, 2016.
