On the afternoon of Jul 20, Lanzhou University (LZU) and the University of Wollongong (UoW), held an online meeting on their joint education program. Attendees from the UoW side were Brett Lovegrove, professor and executive director of Global Strategy, Paul Stapley, vice-dean of Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health, and Guang Shi, dean of School of Earth, Atmospheric and Life Sciences. Attendees from the side of LZU included Chi Gang, director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Meng Xingmin, dean of School of Earth Sciences (SES), and Wang Bo, director of Department of Environmental Engineering, College of Earth and Environmental Sciences (CEES).
Brett made an introduction to the UoW and its achievements in internationalization. As one of the world’s best young universities, it ranks 196th in the QS World University Rankings 2021. It’s a young and promising comprehensive university with rich experience and fruitful results in international cooperation.
Chi Gang introduced LZU and its plan of building a world-class university and world-class disciplines. Leaders of SES and CEES also gave reports on their respective institutions.
A preliminary intention of cooperation was reached between the two sides after discussions on the policies and planning of the joint education program. The two universities will keep in contact to discuss cooperation models, curricula, enrollment, program application and other details.
